Salmon River Clean-Up

My name is Mason, and I was born and raised in Oregon. I grew up fishing conventionally and discovered fly fishing while on a pack trip into the Wallowa mountains. Watching trout rise to my dry fly in crystal clear mountain lakes and the intricacies of casting and presenting my fly left me instantly addicted.

Fly fishing and the pursuit of fish have brought me to some of the most incredible places in the Northwest and beyond, and those adventures have left me with a deep passion for the conservation of our lands and the animals that call them home.

My passion for conservation is rooted in my desire to preserve these incredible places for future generations so that they may also get to experience all of the beauty that surrounds us. For the last few years, I have guided clients of diverse backgrounds chasing fish ranging from carp in the polluted waters of the Willamette to finicky trout in crystal clear spring-fed rivers like the Fall in Central Oregon and with every client, I aim to re-enforce the conservation mindset and provide insight into why these places and fish are so important and worth protecting.

This passion for conservation led me to adopt the Salmon River on Mt.Hood earlier this year through Solve Oregon and the Oregon State Marine Board. The Salmon River is one of my home waters and contains a crucial spawning habitat for our native Salmon and Steelhead. I am extremely proud to announce a cleanup event that I am organizing with the support of Solve Oregon and some of the best local businesses around. Royal Treatment is one of them!

The Salmon River Cleanup will be held on Saturday, September 7th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will meet for registration at the Old Salmon River Trailhead and split into groups to clean the road, trail, and riverbank. Trash bags, litter grabbers, and safety vests will be provided; however, if you would like to participate in riverbank cleanup, you will need to provide your own PFD and waders.

A NW forest pass is required for parking
From Portland on Highway 26, turn right at the stoplight in Welches at the Thriftway onto Welches Road. Continue 2.5 mi until the intersection with Salmon River Road. Continue straight on Salmon River road, and the trailhead will be approximately .7 mi on your right. Look for Solve signage from Highway 26 to help direct you to the event.
