XFlats at Xcalak 2025 Hosted Trip

We're going back to XFlats! High wind challenged us this year, but lightning never strikes twice, right? So we're expecting much better conditions in 2025. Even with the windy conditions, we had a great time and caught fish. I even had my first-ever Grand Slam! The population of Permit and Tarpon was impressive, even if the weather made fishing tough. If you have ever dreamed about a Grand Slam (Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit in one day), you should join us!

Nestled just north of the small fishing village of Xcalak (pronounced ish-kalak), the Xflats Lodge at Tierra Maya is an exciting destination offering immediate access to the world-renowned flats of the Chetumal Bay area. The lodge is situated overlooking the ocean on a quiet and undeveloped stretch of beach, ideally situated to offer anglers incredible opportunities to focus on the “Big Three” flats species — Tarpon, Permit, and Bonefish. Xflats is one of the more popular operations in the Caribbean, with a staff and guide team that is second to none. This is quickly becoming one of the top Yucatan permit lodges!

This trip, hosted by Joel and Jennifer La Follette, is May 10 – 17, 2025. A week for an angler at double occupancy costs $4,995/total, and a single supplement angler costs $7100/total. Below is a general rundown, as well as everything that’s included/excluded:

How To Get There

All guests should book flights to Cancun International Airport (CUN), overnighting at the Cancun Airport Courtyard Marriott. From there, you will be transferred in an air-conditioned vehicle to the lodge on Saturday morning. Mexico is currently working on a Bullet Train that would cut travel time down considerably. We will keep you posted on that.

Arrival and Departure Details / Times

It is essential to arrive in Cancun on Friday so we can get an early start on Satuday morning. The lodge has asked to make sure and schedule your return flight to leave no earlier than 2:30 PM (later is better.) The ground transfer takes approximately 5 hours each way. Shuttle service is included in the 7-night lodging packages booked from Saturday to Saturday only. There will be a surcharge on off-Saturday transfers.
