Each Sweetgrass Rod is a work of art, built by true masters of the craft. With a lineage going back decades that includes some of the most famous names in bamboo fly rod building. Now located in Butte, Montana, Glenn Brackett and the Boo Boys continue the tradition of building fly rods to fish and be proud to own.
Each rod starts with Tonkin cane. Split, milled, and glued into blanks, the rods then head to the benches of the Boo Crew, where they are finalized into a fishing rod you would be proud to hand down to generations to come.
Royal Treatment Fly Fishing is excited to offer here one fine example of the rod builder's art. Chosen for its practical applications here in the Northwest and anywhere Trout swim, this rod is meant to be used and admired. This is a 2-piece, 2-tip rod, featuring a half-wells grip fitted with a stunning down-locking reel seat with a wood insert to die for. At 7'3" and balanced for a 4-weight line, this Sweetgrass model is perfect for smaller streams, creeks, and small alpine lakes. While line choice is a personal matter, I like the Rio Lightline in a Double Taper 4wt., matched to a classic Hardy Marquis 5, or something more vintage in the same basic size. Please enquire about our vintage reel selection.
We will continue to have a variety of Sweetgrass Rods available for purchase, please let us know if there is a model you dream of owning. We would also love to help you realize your dream rod by helping you navigate the ordering process of a custom rod, just for you, to be fished, loved, and handed down for generations.
